Could you add Support for Multilanguage - a great way to translate your program to other language
& more than that, localizations could be a great way to fulfill the late, long-term big marketing plans of the Owner (#356) !
_En ce qui me concerne_, if the strings were in a configuration file, I would have translated them, even if it were just for me.
The RC file is capable of encapsulating multiple languages. There is no need to introduce a third party library or string table whatsoever.
Yes, there is a nice description from Microsoft (called MUI), how to do it. And if it is going to be done, it should be this way. I have seen applications, deploying the language strings in .ini language files, which has the advantage of changing stings on already deployed software (by the user) - not my favorite approach (mostly supporting framework and stability).
Maybe there are a lot of native speakers, who like to contribute a language strings file, maybe not ...
Beside the high effort of implementing MUI (not all NP3's strings are located within the RC file), there are other aspects to consider: Installer, performance, user interface impact, new bugs, strings that don't fit in dialog, buttons, menu, etc. pp. 馃槄 A long term issue.
Someone out there to step in ? ... to be continued ...
Closing this request for now. We can always open a new topic later. 馃槈
Closing the subject I understand that for now there will be no support for this functionality?
Development started...
I have noticed your work since long ago, but I still fail to figure out how to add a new language sub-project...
@lhmouse : Please tell me the language locale code you like to provide a translation for (e.g. zh-cn (language family and sub-language) and I can prepare a PR for a sub-project for translation (of cause language strings still in English).
There is a small very limited development documentation ... at paper.dropbox.com - if you are interested, we can share it with you.
Yeah zh-cn of course. I think I can work on it this weekend or the next one.
Language project and (not translated ;-) ) resources for zh-CN have been created and can be pulled from master (https://github.com/rizonesoft/Notepad3).
Thank you!
I can work on the translation this weekend I think.
As far as I am concerned, this issue may be closed....
I vote for closing this.
