since '/p' is laready taken as set window position...
I would like to recommend/suggest changes as follows..
re-flag "set window position"
from = /p
to = /wp ie w= window p=position
or /w
and use /p for printing the file just like in the original notepad...
that way I can replace the file type associations for that function too! :D :D
please..
The original Notepad2 (v.4.2.25 by Flo) uses the /p command-line option to set the window position.
Changing this long lasting NP2 behavior should be discussed in the community ... :-/
There are some more original Notepad options to be considered:
/pf =)
@RaiKoHoff OK I understand...
@hellonearthis
HUWAYY! we might have a WINNER!
and its not taken! YET! lol :D ;)
ps:
does NP3 have a IRC channel or channel/server on Discord??? for real time discussion?
A slack channel would be fun, better bots
slack... never heard of it...
I have Discord and IRC always loaded..
@MelchiorGaspar , @hellonearthis
sorry guys,
is already taken as a sub-cmd of window positioning (/p(f)ull - full zoom)
NoOOOOOOOO!!!! WERE DOOOMED! LOL :p
well feel free to come up with one then lol ;p
I don't know of anyone that actually uses the windows position flags...
but printing would be handy... lazy I guess lol ;p but handy..
thats why a I suggested moving it to the /wp# with a number as a sub set cmd(s)
and making /p the default print method...
but you devs could put it to the community for a vote I guess O_o??
/po printer output
/pp print please
/pi print it
/pz to confuse the window zoom
Slack https://slack.com/is
LOL
... forced loading as ANSI or Unicode is already implemented:
"NP2 Doc: Desired file encoding (can be one of /ansi, /unicode, /unicodebe, /utf8 or /utf8sig [cmdln opt])"
I have my default encoding set to 'UTF8' :D :D ,
a BASIC but newer then the ANTIQUATED 'ANSI'
AND still compatible with compilers like MinGW (GCC)(32bit)
I found src code and the cmd bath files I wrote to compile them...
DID NOT LIKE UNICODE (UTF-16 various formats)
@hellonearthis hmm... slack... Discord is F.R.E.E....
besides... with Discord it saves chat logs per sub-channels as many as you want..
AND VOICE chat channels TOO!! lol :D :D
UTF-8 yeah - my favorite ;-) (http://utf8everywhere.org/)
Changing /p from window _P_ositioning to _P_rint file is dangerous,
just imagine a user having a startup batch which opens a 10MB log-file with option /p,
now replacing NP3 with a new version .... :-O - so /p is out for printing (and the sub-cmds :-|).
@RaiKoHoff ok ok fair enough...
... and the winner is:
for /(v)erbose or cause it was one of the least chars not taken ;-)
lol ok ;)
I created a community (Forum) for discussing Notepad3. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start. When you register, please check your spam folder. I’ve been having issues with Rizonesoft emails landing up in the spam folder. The plan is to also get some documentation up on the forum. Thank you so much for supporting NP3: https://www.rizonesoft.com/forums/forum/product-support/notepad3/
Wahoo!
WE HAVE A COMMIT!
IT has landed!! :D :D :D
ok I see part of the code... in the commit..
does that case handle lower case 'v' as well??
I coulda sworn that was an issue... but maybe not... lol ;)
ooh a secondary flag /vd = // open printer dialog
NICE! :D :D
and
ps: I am doing this here in part as a code reference... for now..
till maybe a wiki/help page gets created... lol ;)
THX SO MUCH @RaiKoHoff for such a QUICK turnaround getting this implemented!!! :D :D :D :D
I'm drooling here waiting for the next build to be out so I can UPDATE!! :D :D LOL ;)
OH MY the build is already OUT lol :D :D I just downloaded it testing out now!
will 'CLOSE' this ticket too as soon as I am done.. ;)
Yes @RaiKoHoff is doing an amazing job with Notepad3. Thanks @RaiKoHoff !! You are awesome!
as an added feature for '/v' a confirmation dialog box???
LOL FAIL-SAFE in case of accidentally clicking!
ALLRIGHTY THEN..! FILE TYPE ASSOCIATIONS ARE A GO!!
/v Print file immediately and quit.
/vd Print file (open printer dialog)LABEL: print w/ Notepad 3 (FAST)
"C:\Program Files\Notepad3\Notepad3.exe" /v "%1"LABEL: print w/ Notepad 3 (PrintDialog)
"C:\Program Files\Notepad3\Notepad3.exe" /vd "%1"
I actually MESSED up LOL... I did about half my text type file types as this:
"C:\Program Files\Notepad3\Notepad3.exe" "%1" /v
"C:\Program Files\Notepad3\Notepad3.exe" "%1" /vd
LOL NOW I am FIXING them!!
anywho IT WORKS! one test page printed, and PrintDialogBox tested too!!
CLOSED!
THX SO MUCH!!
Another test performed..
multi file printing at the same right-click..
AND THE VERDICT!
two short text files..
GOOD GRIEF my action label wasn't that VERBOSE...!
print w/ Notepad 3 (FAST)
??
better one:
print w/ Notepad 3 (AutoPrint FAST)
NOW I HAVE TO REDO ALL my text file type associations AGAIN!!!
ROTFLMAO :P :P :P
OMG, was I not paying attention
I guess I WAS SPACING AGAIN and missed the FACT that it already says to have forgot
that I appended the Notepad 3 (FAST) with!!
print w/
DUH!!! ROTFLMAO!!
Thank you very much - it was a pleasure for me :-)
Unfortunately my commits will slow down, cause my vacation ends tomorrow ;-)

Not really, i finished my computer science master years ago,
working now as a (Senior-)SW-Developer in an IT company in Germany.
Just turned my hobby to my profession - or vice versa ;-)

and I was taking CS280 I think... "Data Structures in C" this was all 2001-2002... uugh
I didn't have the $$$$$ to finish and the sress got to me X( X( ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_; ;_;
Plus what I know of Computer hardware and UPDATES are my specialty
I just noticed that this now implemented feature is no longer working.. I just tried it out with build
Notepad 3 (v5.19.327.1665)(Portable)(DevBuild)(x64)
and neither /v or /vd worked... :-(
all it did for both flags was open the text file...
@MelchiorGaspar : sorry for this inconvinience,
Please test development beta version _5.19.329.1667_develop.
(For beta channel, see issue #160) or download from my Google Drive.
ok will do... I get all betas from Dropbox...
This feature is working again!
ThX @RaiKoHoff
