v729
Search \t functions correctly but replace \t inserts literal \t, not tab character.
Am I missing something?
\r\n is also literally entered, not a new blank line.
...and maybe use \1 ... \9 or something similar in "help" instead of \n (inside red rectangle in below picture) to avoid confusion...
I did a bit of background checking... Both Notepad2 4.2.25 and Notepad2-mod 4.2.25r998 behave as @9412423209 expects: in a regular expression search, specifying "\t" in the "Replace with" field replaces the searched-for text with a tab.
This behaviour appears to have been introduced in Notepad3 beta build 677-679 (it might be present in 677 but other bugs make it hard to discover; it is definitely present in 679). I originally thought it was simply the swapping to a third party regular expression engine, but there are builds with the DeelX engine that behave as @9412423209 expects (e.g. build 676).
Bug?
... will be fixed with next PR
@RaiKoHoff, I think there is a problem with beta builds 745 (DeelX) and 746 (Onigmo). When testing the tab replacement issue, I got this:

A regex "\s" search should not be matching the literal "s" characters... It should match whitespace.
(The good news is that you now can supply "\t" to replace with a tab.)
Lastly, a very minor thing... In the Replace dialogue, when I mouse-over the "(?)" help link for Regular expression search, the first few pixels of the opening bracket disappear (yellow highlight in image above). It does not happen in the Find dialogue.
You are absolutely right, sorry for that. Never commit late at night ;-)
Beta version and fix will be available soon...
Beta build 1215.747 is out ... (PR #233) (there is no separate Onigmo build - it is standard now)
@craigo- : million thanx for testing :+1:
Beta build 747 confirmed fixed - thanks.
