Tasks: [Bug] Notification badge not displayed

Android 8.0
Tasks 10.0.2 [edit: updated to 10.0.3 and issue persists] from F-Droid

Problem/Bug: Notification badge doesn’t show in various launchers when there is an active notification.

I enabled badges in notifications. I disabled android options that kill background apps. I tried resetting the app preferences then enabled badges again. I restarted my phone.

Other apps display badges but this one doesn’t.

I have tried with KISS launcher and Total Launcher.

I’d like to think it is a problem on my end but I have searched hard for a potential solution, and now I suspect it is the app causing the problem.

Can you try toggling off Tasks settings > Notifications > Persistent notifications and see if that makes a difference?

That actually fixed it.

Sorry if I missed something in the documentation about that.

Is this intended and normal that you can’t have badges with persistent notifications?

I realized today I also don’t have lock screen notifications for Tasks, and disabling persistent does not fix that. I can put in a separate issue if needed. Thanks

I actually haven't gotten any complaints about badges before, I was just guessing 😄

Can you tap on Tasks settings > Notifications > More settings, then tap on Notifications, and check that 'Lock screen' is set to 'Show all notification content', and that the notifications are set to pop on screen, vibrate, make sound, etc

I should have clarified, I already tried the above suggestion for the lock screen notifications and everything was already set to maximum display and notification, etc.

@abaker please ignore anything in this issue about the lock screen notifications, they magically started working on their own for some reason. I suspect it’s phone related because I realized I had another app also not displaying on lock screen, which started working at the same time.
