Signal-desktop: Feature request: Limit desktop notifications

Created on 2 Dec 2020  路  3Comments  路  Source: signalapp/Signal-Desktop

I would like to ask for a feature, that limits the number of notifications.

Many people reply asynchronously and reply with more than one message in a row. When I keep signal-desktop in the background it becomes highly annoying, if I get three or even four notifications in a row.
It would be nice, if there is an option to state "no more than e.g. 1 notification every 5 minutes".

I'm thinking of something like this

A feature like this would be highly appreciated!

I think an important part of this feature would be that the limit should be applied per-conversation. If Jim and James keep nattering in the the group chat, I still want to be notified when Pam says something to me directly.

With ubuntu 20.04 there is a button "don't disturb" for gnome-panel, that's a nice feature.

I fully agree with this :+1:
