Signal-desktop: Group update notifications are not localized properly

  • [X] I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates

The messages for group updates have some minor flaws:

  • When leaving the group, I get a message "You left the group"
    'left the group' get's translated; 'You' is still english.

  • When updating a group, sometimes there is a message with: "Number1, Number2 joined the group". Here the numbers should be replaced with names and there should be a plural version of 'joined the group' for some languages.

v1.0.39 is released, and the 'You' in group updates is localized properly.

There's also a second string available for when multiple people joined the group - when the localizers take advantage of it and we release a build with those changes, it will be fixed as well.

@scottnonnenberg Thanks.

Just one more thing, which fits in here (or should I open an new issue?).
When the group gets updated, Signal Android shows me "who updated it".
Shouldn't this be done on Desktop also?

I'm pretty sure any change will be in a message bubble labeled for the person it came from. Either way, if you want a change in that, please enter a new bug. :0)
