Yes, we should make messages searchable, but instead of filtering the view, I think it'd be better to manipulate the scroll position, so that messages are still displayed in context. (e.g. Ctrl+F in a normal webpage)

Right, to much Copy paste :-)

Yes please!

I'm so confused as to why Signal don't appear to be capitalising on Facebooks/whatsapp's fall from grace. There is a real opportunity for Signal - but there is some serious feature latency between signal and the others. Searching messages is surely a key feature which i can see through searches on G that have been requested since 2014!!!??? Are we likely to see a host of features in the near future including search? Or should we not bother porting over to Signal. What are you doing with the recent 50M dollars of investment? Please let me know if you don't have these intentions and I will go undo the all the free promotion i'm doing for Signal.

@orcra We hear your frustration, and this is absolutely on our radar. I encourage you to watch our release notes if you'd like to understand where our time is being spent.

I'm going to lock this issue, however, because we already have enough information about it. If you'd like to discuss Signal Desktop, the forums are the right place for that: https://community.signalusers.org/

Full-text message search has been implemented for quite some time now.
