Scratch-gui: Add more tutorials

Created on 9 Sep 2018  路  4Comments  路  Source: LLK/scratch-gui

Expected Behavior

There are tutorials for a lot of things.

Actual Behavior

Tutorials I would like to see:

  • Sound effects
  • Broadcasts
  • Basic intro to if and if/else
  • ask/answer blocks
  • Using math in Scratch
  • Using logic (or, and, not, >, <, =) in Scratch
  • Variables and lists
  • Creating a custom block
  • Using the vector paint editor
  • Using the bitmap paint editor
  • Using the sound editor
  • Platformer physics (too complex?)
  • Music extension tutorial
  • Pen extension tutorial
  • Video Sensing extension tutorial
  • Translate extension tutorial
  • Connecting to hardware
  • Microbit
  • EV3
  • Wedo 2.0

Why more tutorials?

Only 33 of the 106 main Scratch blocks show up in tutorials (yes, I counted). That means there are 73 blocks that new Scratchers have no idea how to use.

After (and if) this is implemented, an item in the context menu of blocks titled 'Tutorial' would probably be useful for users who aren't sure how to use a block. Clicking it would bring up a list of tutorials which use (or focus on) this block.

More advanced tutorials would be nice, too.
