Not sure how to word the subject for this issue exactly, but in the screenshot as you can see I have selected 2 lines with multiselect and then if I try and backspace to the start of the lines you'll notice that the "0" from the "10" on line 2 remains, the same happens again if you have 100 on line 3, "00" remains after backspacing to the start of the lines to remove everything above the blue arrow. I have the whitespace chars shown so you can see they are tabs not spaces between the columns, it appears to work correctly if I remember to convert the tabs to spaces first.

I hope that is explained clearly enough. I have tried multiple different versions incl latest stable and beta all seem to exhibit this issue.

Here is a link to a sample text block for testing purposes: https://pastebin.com/raw/ZmYvVxxA

PS: Love the work that you do on Notepad3, thanks for its continued development.

Scintilla upstream 馃悶 bug

Most helpful comment

Interesting detail: The bug is not triggered if you make the "thin" selection bottom-up (selecting from last line to top line).
Ed.: Reported to https://sourceforge.net/p/scintilla/bugs/2122/
Upd: Has been accepted as a bug, but solution will be delayed until October (vacation time).

Hello @jupester ,
I can reproduce your problem and confirm that this is a Scintilla Upstream bug (reproducible in Notepad++ too). If I'll find some time, I check Scintilla project, if this issue has been discussed already, else I am going to report it.

OK, thanks for reporting it, feel free to close this ticket then if you think it's appropriate since the resolution will be done in scintilla, or I will close it if you tell me to.

According to this "undocumented feature" reported upstream there will be no fix available so fast ... 馃
So we can close this issue (won't/can't be fixed).

OK, no worries.
