And nice idea would be to calculate & show the estimated time to read an article…

Because :D?

People read at different speeds so I don't know why this would help.

Yeah, of course. But with this time (which is e.g. also shown by Firefox in the reader mode and many blogs use it) may be useful for some people.
And of curse, yes, it's "estimated"…

Personally I don't really see the value since it's inaccurate and therefore clutters the interface.

I've also never seen this in the wild.

Opinions @jancborchardt @MorrisJobke @BrummbQ @cosenal @LukasReschke @nickvergessen ?

Medium and other blog software does this to give a rough estimate how long the article is. I generally like that kind of info.

This feature looks to me like a good candidate for a plugin.

This app is already a plug-in, …

@cosenal good point, https://github.com/nextcloud/news/tree/master/docs/plugins should cover everything

@rugk The app supports its own plugins, see link shared in previous comment

I have seen this information out in the wild (news pages, blogs) and I found it a bit ridiculous. You normally see the scroll bar and know how much you can expect (won't work if it's over more pages - what I hate even more - but that does not apply for the news app).

I agree with @MorrisJobke here:

I think we can safely close this. Whoever wants to add this feature can create a News app plugin, as mentioned above.

Then create this plugin. Use this issue to track the plugin wish.
