After installing the latest News app v12.0.2 using thr web installer and selecting it, the screens stays empty and no News feeds were loaded/displayed. Instead the following messages was logged:
...,"app":"news","method":"GET","url":"\/index.php\/apps\/news\/","message":"Could not find resource file \"\/apps2\/news\/js\/build\/app.min.js\"","userAgent":"Mozilla\/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:60.0) Gecko\/20100101 Firefox\/60.0","version":"13.0.2.1"}
I checked the news folder and couldn't find a ../js/build folder with an app.min.jsfile in it. Instead a Admin.js and app.min.js file could be found in the root folder of the news app. I compared the files and directories with an archive of the previous version and in that file a js directory exists.
I decided to create a js/admin and a js/build directory manually and copied the previously mentioned files to the correct folders and set the access rights correctly.
After I've done this the app started correctly again and no error was logged anymore. It might be worse to check the packaged directory structure in the news app archive file.

Confirmed....just manually extracted the js folder from the old release and it works for now.
Same issue here...
...fix from @j-ed works. Thank You!
@j-ed Thanks mate. Worked like a charm.
I assume that the owncloud news app in the Apple AppStore does not rely on these two files.
It was working perfectly fine even though it wasn't in a regular browser session.
Same here.
Can we expect an update soon? @MorrisJobke @BernhardPosselt ?
Thx
I just released 12.0.3 which fixes the problem. Sorry for the mess. I tested it and sadly didn't cleared the cache and thus the files where still there.
12.0.3 is also in the appstore: https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/news
