Macpass: Fill title field automatically from URL

Created on 4 Jun 2018  路  4Comments  路  Source: MacPass/MacPass

When you create an new account on a website the workflow look like that:

  • arrive on the "create an account" website's page
  • field the username field
  • copy the website url
  • open MacPass
  • add the url in the field URL
  • add the title
  • copy the generated password
  • go back to the website and past the password

We can remove on step by automatically fill the title field when empty from the url field (simply remove the http:// and eventually extension and replace "-" by space). Eventually move the URL field on the top, but that not obligatory.

An other option would be to automatically clean up url when pasted on the title field, but I don't like that to much.

Just a side note: you can drag urls from the browser onto the MacPass window and it will create an entry with exactly the mentioned data pre-filled.

Hello mstarke, how can you drag url from browser into macpass window?

Just drag the url field of e.g. Safari and drop it on the main entries window and the new entry will be added.
