I’ve deleted all posts from the test site, start a new post and add Related Posts Block. In the Editor, I’m seeing placeholder posts, but when I preview/publish post, it shows deleted posts. Is it also related to indexing?

Context / Source

This _might_ be due to the same underlying issue as https://github.com/Automattic/wp-calypso/issues/29750.

@gibrown do we reindex on post deletion?

I'd like to investigate this by tomorrow. Assigning to myself.

This may very likely be due to how we cache things on the front-end.

One thing to mention is that we are using both transient and post_meta for caching locally. It also utilises WP_Object_Cache — which is kind of inconsistent.

It looks like something that has been patched overtime without looking at the whole picture and I would like to rewrite the _get_related_post_ids function and even add an option to Jetpack to disable caching.

This could even be an ideal trial assignment at A8C as long as I write a ticket for that specifically.

Moving this over to the Jetpack repo. Will use this as a reference ticket for rewriting caching.
