This only started when I updated the plugin recently.

That's a generic issue with AA, same happens in GTA3/VC/SA, I have the option to draw black lines there to hide that bug. Probably same could be done with nfs, but currently widescreen fix doesn't provide such option.

Are you sure? I have a similar issue and it's caused by the game's AA when using enhanced contrast. I'm not sure why yours looks so exaggerated. Does this still happen with the widescreen fix (dinput8.dll + scripts folder) removed? How about when AA is disabled?

This is what it looks like for me with enhanced contrast toggled + AA.

It could also be a driver issue, but you'd have to troubleshoot that on your own. I'm using an AMD card and judging by your display pic you're using a Nvidia card.

Yeah it was AA. Turning it off fixed it. I'm just using downsampling with DSR now to make up for it but still not as nice as 8xFSAA proper. Sorry.

By the way, on the topic of NFSU2, is anyone else noticing missing rain particles? They only show up when the game is paused and a menu is overlayed like the pause screen.

I've already confirmed this isn't related to the widescreen fix but I have no idea why this is happening. Hoping someone here would be knowledgeable enough to get figure this one out. PC Gaming Wiki says to use Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode but it doesn't seem to fix it, only breaks my Steam and MSI AB overlays from hooking.

I've had the flashing problem described by PCGamingWiki, but not anymore for whatever reason. Try running the game on its own without the overlays and see if it makes a difference. There's not much else I can say about it.

Thank you very much! The game stayed ugly but solved the problem.

Off topic:

I can not find a crack 100% compatible with the UK version of NFSU 1 and 2. Always cuts something, like the EA logo, THX intro or cutscenes. I've tried all the cracks of these sites:

http://www.gameburnworld.com/gp/gamefixes/needforspeedunderground.shtml
https://megagames.com/fixes/need-speed-underground
https://www.gamecopyworld.eu/games/pc_nfs_underground.shtml

I don't know how to help with that, sorry.

Just to share something I learned about the previously mentioned missing rain particles: they are only visible if you run the game at a 30 fps cap. Playing at higher frame rates makes them go invisible/stop spawning. Not worth sacrificing 120hz for.
