Walletwasabi: Not Using Hardware Wallet but I'm seeing error: Could not find the hardware wallet

Created on 8 May 2020  Â·  10Comments  Â·  Source: zkSNACKs/WalletWasabi

Hello everyone. Im trying to send coins back to my Ledger Nano X. Every attempt fails and receive the message " Could not find the hardware wallet. Make sure its connected."

Although it is plugged into ledger live, But I never connected my hardware wallet to Wasabi. And no attempt requires me to enter my password like bedore. Why does Wasabi think I am using a hardware wallet? Perhaps I did something but I am not sure.

Hello All,

I've done as both of you have recommended and it was successful. Ledger0 was my Nano S from long ago. After I'd upgraded to the X. I had emptied my S wallet and put it away. All the while forgetting that I had used Wasabi with it once back then. I'd sent funds from my X wallet to the S wallet stored on Wasabi thinking that address was a Wasabi generated wallet that I had simply labeled Ledger0. Turns out it was the Nano S wallet & I was able to retrieve my funds.

Thank you all for you time and effort consulting me.

I don't understand.
you have both wasabi and ledger live installed on your computer, and now you connect the hww to that computer, and it is picked up by both wasabi and ledger live?

So as far as I can see from the screenshot - you have added Ledger0 to Wasabi once because Wasabi created Ledger0 wallet for you. If you want to spend from that wallet then you will need the hardware wallet to sign the transaction for you.

You might be sending from the wrong wallet?

Is it possible that I generated a new wallet on Wasabi with my Nano X and potentially did not realize it even though the Nano X is not supported?

I think it is possible.
Try to send with your hardware wallet and see if that works.

Okay. I just tried to send with my Nano X plugged into my PC: It was unsuccessful. It continues to wait for me to sign a transaction (via my Nano X?) but no prompt ever appears on my Nano X requiring me to confirm anything.

Also, I went to File → Hardware Wallet and the Nano X is picked up as "Unknown"..attempting to load the wallet gives the error message " Uknown Device type specified"

I should also note that I used a Nano S with Wasabi I think well over a year ago, but its boxed up and locked away and nowhere near me or my PC when this problem began for me.. Is that something that can be contributing to my problem? If so, I can fetch it.

I suggest to try that Nano S.

So just to make sure

  • You have a wallet named Ledger0.
  • You want to send from that wallet to somewhere else.
  • You generated Ledger0 wallet with Nano S.

Can you confirm these statements?
