Tilix: Move Terminal to different Session/Tab

Created on 17 Aug 2017  路  7Comments  路  Source: gnunn1/tilix

I am not finding a way to move a terminal to a different session. I thought i would find it under the dropdown for the terminal, not seeing it though.

Didn't see this requested elsewhere either, so chiming in with it!

It's a bit clunky right now, you need to detach the terminal first (i.e. drag it out of tilix and drop it so it makes a new window), switch the session and then go to the previously dropped terminal and drag it where you want it.

I should improve this, I'll leave it open as a todo item.

I can drag one from one-window to land as half a terminal in another, but only to become part of an existing session.

It would be good if I could drop it on the grey bar of the other window and have it become a session of its own instead of part an existing session.

The workaround I've found for doing this is, hit F12 to show the sidebar, and then drag the terminal thumbnail from the sidebar to the destination terminal.

@3v1n0 This doesn't work if you use tabs instead of the sidebar and dropping the window in the tab bar. Also this doesn't work for entire windows/layouts, just single terminal windows. Maybe something to think about if this feature is being implemented.

+1 on this feature request, and thanks for the workaround even if its clunky
Here's a use case: Using the tabbed interface, Tilix always in a quarter section of the desktop. Normal flow: split the current terminal to launch some command, ssh somewhere. Then often I need to focus on that work and make it session, intuitively I drag the split terminal to the tab bar expecting it will be converted into a tab/session but this actually creates a new tilix window. Ideally a new tab will be created with the dragged terminal

just bumping this request. I'm using tilix literally all the time in my desktop and this little feature would save quite a bit for drag/drop and clicking around :)

Just found this issue open but I am a bit confused - I think the feature is already there - at least in case of Quake mode and tabs (there was comment that does not work if one use tabs)

Basically, if I have tabs instead of sidebar and few session open in it, if I drag a terminal over tab of different session it activates that session and I can place terminal there wherever I like.
