Simplenote-electron: Latex/Math Preview

Thanks for making the great software. I am aware math support has been discussed two year ago, but would like to revisit this topic.

Math rendering would be the turn-key feature for the engineering/science community. MathJax/Katex has made great progress in recent years. E.g., Atom markdown preview for math rendering.

MathJax/Katex based rendering seems particularly suitable for Electron. Would this be a possible addition to Simplenote ?

Since Simplenote uses Showdown.JS to render Markdown.
Showdown doesn't support MathJax as of now.

Apparently, there is an extension to use Latex with Showdown.

Using the showdown-katex extension as mentioned in the showdownjs tracker and mentioned above would be a great place to start. Dropbox Paper already uses KaTeX for math according to the katex repo, so this seems to be feasible.

Due to the nature of being a cross-platform app, one thing we have to consider is whether this is also achievable on the other platform versions (iOS, Android, macOS). It seems like Markdown parity has been hard to achieve, even with the relatively standard Markdown features we currently have.

@mirka Dropbox Paper has this feature (using katex) implemented on iOS/Android. Their product also uses markdown behind the scenes for note-taking.

Math support would be essential for me. Now I use Dynalist which does support math
