The fuzzy search for emojis does not always work as expected, e.g. typing :kissing_h shows : stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye : as first suggestions, see screenshot below.
However, I am failing to reproduce it consistently. It only happens from time to time.
I suspect this issue is present since https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/commit/56ae4a41ebeadbb17feb1572b9464af6d9b8098a
Actual Result:
A totally different emoji (with no shared string) is suggested.
Expected Result:
The correct emoji is suggested at rank 1, e.g. in this case : kissing_heart :

Signal Version: 1.39.2-beta.4
Operating System: Ubuntu 18.04
Linked Device Version: 5.0.4
Should not be necessary.
Can confirm on version v1.39.2, OS: macOS/Debian, linked device version: 5.0.4
I can reproduce consistently. If you start typing :eyes it will always replace it with 馃槅
I can also confirm. I'm using version 1.39.2 on Ubuntu.

Experiencing this too, v1.39.2 on osx. This changed recently, previously it worked great.

Experiencing this on v1.39.2 on Ubuntu 20.04

Thanks for the heads-up, everyone. We have a change planned for our next release which makes those basic searches like 'heart' and 'eyes' work as you expect.
Not sure if this is the same problem, but since the latest update (macOS, v1.39.2) I've also been getting very odd suggestions, e.g.

I assume this got fixed by https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/commit/25f64a5140f649c25ec9c951fbafe958aa04d75a. I can't reproduce the issue at least and will close this for now.
If anyone encounters the issue again, feel free to re-open.
