Please add a feature to import a phone backup into the Signal desktop client.
It's important for me to be able to look at older messages, and there appears to be absolutely no way to import older messages to the Signal Desktop client from the phone, even though I have the backup available with recovery keys.
So far all I can find is a workaround involving exporting the database directly as plain text but... then I still can't re-import it to the Desktop application.
I second this, this is a really an important feature. This could be also used at sync time between the phone and the desktop app, where a backup from the phone should be send and automatically imported in the desktop app
Other way around is useful too, export backup from desktop client that can be used to restore on both desktop and mobile app.
This feature request has only been around for a little over a year, but it is a very necessary feature from a convincing standpoint. There is all kinds of data held in my past messages which I need to randomly search for -- from people, addresses, birthdays, event threads, location names, phone numbers, etc. When I start to use Signal on my desktop, it's useless. If I lose my phone, again the Desktop app is ankle deep as a knowledge base. Phone-to-phone backup? Awesome! Please keep up the good work.
