I'm seeing the same issue on the desktop while the android app works fine. I do start signal desktop quite often (about once every 2 days).

@achlubek : What do you mean with "Reset session"? Do you mean disconnecting the desktop version from your account and pairing it again afterwards?

I mean hitting the gear icon in right top, then selecting Reset session, nothing much happens, the crypto is reestablished I reckon and it works afterwards

Please provide your debug log, as well as the debug log from the contact who is sending you these messages. You can upload that debug log at View -> Debug Log.

I have the same issue, it only appears on desktop client while on android messaging works fine.

I have 3 desktop devices (2 windows 1 linux) and 1 phone
What is happening is when I start signal on one desktop device, and send something, others are somehow invalidated. Then I boot other device, and everything I have are always Error handling incoming messages, at times also the device sends TONS of invalid messages to everyone. Reset session seems to solve it but only for the one device, when you start the other, the issue appears again.

It happens almost always, not always, but almost always.

@achlubek Is it true that you're sometimes not starting these desktop installs for weeks at a time?

Yes this is true

@achlubek We have some work to do to make that scenario better. For now, if you start Signal Desktop more often you shouldn't run into this.

Thanks, I hope it will get better in time.

That (reset) fixed it for me. Was experiencing the same issue on my MacBook air.

Perhaps it was due to shifting time zones when I opened the app on my iPhone vs. MacBook.
