Signal-desktop: Feature request: make conversations searchable

I think that would require a deep re-design of the interface, since the current contact search wouldn't fit for messages.

I don't use Signal yet but am considering it, especially since Hangouts is dying and WhatsApp is run by Actual Supervillains. From this Community post it looks like desktop has supported search since v1.27, but I don't actually see it described anywhere on the Signal website. I don't want to go through the hoops of making an account and installing the desktop software just to see if this feature exists -- and I don't plan to try Signal unless/until it does.

@scottnonnenberg the linked issue #367 is locked (even though it hasn't been resolved?!?) and hasn't been updated in almost 3 years. Other related issues have been closed/locked as well. Could you or @signalapp update #367 with a current status (e.g. "full-text search is definitely supported") and close it if it's actually resolved?
