I seem to have a similar issue. After installing signal-desktop I don't see any of my conversations. Does it not sync with the data on my phone (similar to WhatsApp Web)?
@kaimast No, it does not sync messages that you received before installing Desktop.
(WhatsApp Web simply maps your phones conversations to the screen, which is why you can't use the WA web when your phone is switched off.)
I understand. Seems like a strange design decision to me though, not having your phone on is not really a thing that happens very often.
Is syncing the messages from your phone to the desktop planned for future releases?

I was wondering if not syncing messages on phone (prior to installing desktop app) was actually a bug!
