After the last update of Signal desktop i wanted to test the new feature - importing contacts once again. I clicked "import" in settings and after a long time (about 3 minutes) i got the message shown in screenshots section. I checked my connections and it turned out that everything is ok. I can send and get messages both from computer and phone so that's not the case.
Actual result: I get error with description that i should check my Internet connection but the Internet connection is ok.
Expected result: Imported contacts or message telling me what's actually wrong.

Operating System: Linux Mint 17.3 MATE 64-bit
Browser:Chromium Version 50.0.2661.102 Built on Ubuntu 14.04
Signal version: 3.16.0
Looks like you actually got the contact sync but you don't have any groups so we hit a timeout waiting for them, which is actually a normal result and should not show the error. Nice catch.
I believe this was fixed in 80c6a28
I just installed Signal Desktop for iOS and am having this problem.
@vdcbb @liliakai
i dont believe this was fixed but after numerous times - trying restart, reinstall, import, toggle access to contacts ..sending a message to a contact from the mobile device and then attempting to import works ..we can assume whats happening behind the scene :)
hope that works for all until the fix!

@durellventour If you have never had a session with that contact then it is working as intended when it is not synced to Desktop, as Signal-Android should not sync non-signal contacts.
However, when creating the contact, Signal-Android should attempt to open a session. Did the contact install signal after or before you created the contact?
