• 200+ games played
• Known in the community to be fun to play with/not an asshole.
• Has sponsorship from a current mod
• Has no one say "no" when discussion of 'Modding' you comes up.
• Bonus: participates in Discord channel and helps out in the GitHub issues page here.

All in all, be a nice person who is active, enjoys the game and site, and wants to improve the community.

This is coming along, maybe 1-2 more days to basic functionality, essentially right now its: list a of players in reverse order of games played with their IP next to it, 2 click bans, need to implement a "reason" text field and a list of recent mod actions and by who and this can launch. Probably this weekend.

Made a lot of progress here and should be able to polish this up tomorrow (6/10) and get it out. Here's a preview:

To note: moderators will see a new red M symbol in the upper right corner, clicking that while not seated in a game will bring you to the image above. There's basically 3 things I want mods doing: banning griefers and those with bad names (see OP), occasionally checking to see if more than one user has the same IP (they will be in a different color in the left column), and communicating with the mod team via the "comment without action" button. To enable either of those buttons you'll need to put something in the textarea. Hopefully this isn't too confusing if so I can expand. I'll also throw a refresh button in there.

I'll be doing a bigger update and email tomorrow. I think I have ~5 people who volunteered, are rainbow players, and have sent me their email address so since everything is logged and backed up I think we're in good shape to get this going. Ironically after all this work it sounds like we haven't been hit too hard by griefers lately but oh well.. they'll come lol. Thanks!

I don't know if it's been mentioned or not, but @CrazyuncleFunk is a legit jerk who breaks a lot of what Mods are supposed to be policing in the area of language and game chat. Just wanted to throw that out there.

May just be me, but I hold Mods up to a higher standard than the willingness to bully unnecessarily. If you read this as a guy who got his feelings hurt because of a swear word, you are reading it wrong. It is meant more as a guy who appreciates a good community of appropriate competition in which no one feels bullied or taken advantage of, and it is the Mods' responsibility to monitor that.

I would just ask for concrete moderation guidelines and transparent moderation to prevent abuse. Perhaps for each ban provide a comment, and relevant chatlogs and/or game logs that are publicly visible.

If I understand correctly, under the current system there is no way to contest a ban or for the community to see banlogs, So thus, in theory a mod on a bad day could ban someone, then ban anyone who called him out on it.

As far as a transparent moderation log, great idea! I am all for it. Mods have done an amazing job since this was implemented, but there's no reason why people can't see it. The real problem is that it is a significant amount of work. There are a lot of bugs and features that I feel would serve the site better to be worked on by myself in the coming weeks, but I have opened an issue. If you or anyone else wants to take this on and get an orange name please assign it to yourself and work on it, but it will take a significant amount of full stack JS knowledge to complete.

Dear Coz,

I have recently heard over SH that the role as a "moderator" has been put up for appointment, I was genuinely wondering if I could receive a "moderator" role. Actually after starting "Secret Hitler" as a fun game to pass the time it has slowly turned into an very favorable way to pass the time as it now seems as a hobby. Having months of experience rising up through the ranks I see different players, trickiness, chat tone, genuine responses, and sadly many AFKs. Though as a moderator I feel I would be quite active as I am constantly day in and day out, as I've also heard about shifts I am proposing to have my shift in the afternoon or in late evening as that time I'm available, I travel frequently between Eastern Europe and Far East Asia as most moderators are unavailable at that time. However I'm not sure you remember but we have played multiple time together including today (Sun Aug 13) where we were both Liberals, all in all I believe the Online community of Secret Hitler would be improved with me as a moderator as I feel I finally have enough experience after 300 games plus.

I wanted to reapply to help as a moderator again in secrethitler.io.

I know I messed up last time in testing the wins/losses functions one time too many out of curiosity and joking, but being not a mod now I see the potential to do more as a player since im online a lot and am one of the few to have played as many games as i have with such status for so long. Now only playing games again after having the ability to help the community in different areas has helped me reanalyze my priorities and purpose in the sight as an experienced player/computer user.

I appreciate the first trial i had as a mod under @OGMax's endorsement. I value his leadership and expertise, as well as your own coz, and wish to improve the discord, github, and sh.io community by reporting bugs, player troubles, remaining above reproach in helping in the mod log (not messing with it anymore like last time). And being more proactive to help and learn the functions of mods instead of just playing as a blue guy.

I know we have lots of mods but if there is space/need/any deisre on anyone's parts to have me back on I would be happy to help.
