Safe-react: Ledger fails with black notification popup when not enough ETH for gas on account

I might be having a similar issue here. My ledger can connect to the web app but can only sign ether transfers. For some reason it can't do other smart contract transactions like creating a new Safe, adding an owner, adding a spending limit, etc. The web app directly rejects those request. (my contract data is activated)

How to reproduce

1. Have a Safe with a Ledger as owner
2. Trigger tx
3. Ledger has >0 ETH, but not enough for tx
4. Try to execute tx

Expected:

• Info that there not enough ETH for gas on Ledger or some other error notification.

Observed:

• Black notification (see comment below)

@RockmanR thanks for the report. I'm unable to reproduce this. Could you please share the following details?

• What network are you on? (Mainnet, RInkeby, xdai?)
  
  
  
  • If Mainnet, are you using https://gnosis-safe.io/app/ or the desktop app?
  
  
• What browser are you using? Chrome?
• What ledger are you on? Nano s or x?
• Just to make sure: You are using the direct Ledger integration and not via Metamask?
• How many owners have you set and what is the threshold or the Safe?

Hi @tschubotz , based on your questions I figured out the issue. The Ledger was out of gas. When I tried to connect the Ledger through Metamask, Metamask showed me the problem.

It would be great if the the Safe can show that error too, though.

I'll still provide the below information in case it's relevant for the black error box:

• what network are you on? (Mainnet, RInkeby, xdai?) Minnet
• If Mainnet, are you using https://gnosis-safe.io/app/ or the desktop app? the "https://gnosis-safe.io/app/ "
• What browser are you using? Chrome? I've tried on Edge and Firefox (got same results)
• What ledger are you on? Nano s or x? Nano
• Just to make sure: You are using the direct Ledger integration and not via Metamask? Yes its direct
• How many owners have you set and what is the threshold or the Safe? 2 owners, just one sign is needed

I would like to add to this thread that the same issue is happening while creating a new multi-sig with Ledger under the same condition of not having enough ETH on the account.
