Powertoys: In 0.27, no longer can I hold down shift first before dragging.

Created on 3 Dec 2020  ·  4Comments  ·  Source: microsoft/PowerToys

ℹ Computer information

  • PowerToys version: 0.27.0
  • PowerToy Utility: FancyZones
  • Running PowerToys as Admin: No
  • Windows build number: 18362.1198

📝 Provide detailed reproduction steps (if any)

  1. Hold down left shift key
  2. Move mouse to the title bar of any window
  3. With left shift held, press and hold left mouse button
  4. Attempt to move the window/mouse with both key/button held
  5. Nothing happens.... sometimes the window snaps to the current zone underneath

✔️ Expected result

Window should be dragged to anywhere desired with the fancy zones highlighted underneath.

❌ Actual result

Window does not move anywhere or at all. The mouse moves freely, but does not attach to the window.

📷 Screenshots

Not a great scenario for a screenshot since its a motion thing. Happy to provide anything on request.

Note: I realize and read there are a few other similar issues reported on 0.27 now, they may have the same root cause, however, I did not see this exact issue / bug reported yet. Triage as needed.

Thanks.

In some cases, quitting and restarting PowerToys seems to solve the issue.

Thanks. Yes, on two machines (for now), that did help. Thanks.

... ahh, I missed the one you linked this to because it was an ambiguous title. Thanks. :)

@enricogior Ah, whoops, the error comes back eventually. Today when logging in, I can't shift+drag anymore, when restarting the app worked yesterday.

@jp-stewart
we are investigating it, subscribe to #8330 to be notified of updates.
