Start Menu is one of the best features of windows. It would be great to see an implementation to create custom tiles for the start menu. Various 3rd party applications provide this feature but they are either paid or have lots of ads. Those which are Free and actually good don't have options to create Long and Wide Tiles. Some softwares even let you create live tiles(Mostly for Steam,Origin,Uplay, etc). I would love to see something like this in PowerToys.
Some great 3rd party Softwares that let you create custom tiles:
TileIconifier
Win10Tile
EdgeTile Creator
Pin More
Here's an example:
neat idea
I think out of all the 3rd party apps the best is TileIconifier which is developed by some guys at MIT. It has like the most features and allows any type of file to be associated with a Start Menu Tile and also allows any kind of static image to be associated with the tile icon as well. But it doesn't support Long, Wide and Live Tiles. I hope you guys can implement this.
If PowerToys gets a proper Start Tile/Live Tile - can it match the icon sizing and shadow as the other inbox apps. Right now there is no external documentation for this, so you may have to ask the design teams to give you the details.
This would be preferable to using the default Win32 app tile, as it supports full sizing, and could even support Live data, if such a powertoy in the future, required it.
