Starting package install...
Installer failed with exit code: 1
According https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys#requirements the .NET Core 3.1 Desktop Runtime was installed on Windows (finished in ~30 sec)
Running PT install is trying to install dotnet again:
Tried install .Net 3.1, and install Power Toys 0.20, and the following error occurred. It is now stucked in 75% again. And no dotnet.exe process running.
Same here - freezes on "Installing dotnet..."
For those having installation issues, a workaround was detailed here which worked for me. YMMV

As mentioned, the workaround unfornatelly didn't solve my installation problem.
I have the same issue. Getting stuck at 99% of .NET install...
I'm having the same issue as @carlosmatioli.
Specifically I am not seeing the dot net installer when installation gets stuck. It instead gets stuck earlier and slowly ticks up through percentages. Eventually I get a message that the installer has stopped responding with options to retry or cancel. I have the .net 3.1 framework installed, among many others for development work that cannot be uninstalled.
I was previously on 0.19.2 which worked. After attempting to install 0.20.0 and having the above issues, rolling back to 0.19.2 does not function either. The installer immediately exists. Running the 0.19.2 installer with logging generates the file below which seems doesn't seem to log anything particularly terrible but does look like is cut off at the end, as if the installer quite unexpectedly.
Install failed over existing version. Tried to re-install and it also failed/hung during installation. :( So sad. It's been a pretty rough start PowerToys. Hoping you all can crank up the quality knob.
Happy to provide more information about the issue if I knew what would help.

Worked for me too.
We have a test build for a slightly different problem but it may be working for some of the people that posted in this thread (not all the reports are for the same problem).
If someone wants to test it please read https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/issues/5397#issuecomment-668522920
Thanks.
Unsurprising but wanted to update that this fix (and the private test installer) did not fix the issue that myself (and @carlosmatioli) reported which is not related, as far as I can tell, to dot net installation.
@AndrewCarvalho
thanks for the feedback.
Are you currently stuck with the 0.19.2 installer exiting with no error?
Correct. I no longer have PowerToys installed and the 0.19.2 installer fails with the log I posted. I haven't tested any older installers and 0.19.2 did work for me before attempting the upgrade to 0.20.0.
If I attempt 0.20.0, after some time I get this popup.
Can you check in the legacy Control Panel if there is a PowerToys entry?
Is there a PowerToys folder in C:\Program Files
?

Thanks.
@enricogior , thank you for your support and suggestion. But since I'm trying to install in my company's PC, and they have very extrict policies, I think I will wait for a definitive solution.
Sorry to disapoint you . I will keep up with this thread, and provide you any logs or tests that does not demand any other software to be installed!!
@enricogior not sure why I didn't think to check, but yes, PowerToys does exist in my program files. Running the executable directly works as expected. There is no shortcut in the start menu and it is not set up to launch with windows, so it looks like it failed near the end of installation but generally works.
Do you think it is worth attempting an uninstall (or deletion) and re-running the 0.20.0 installer?
@carlosmatioli
sure no problem.
@AndrewCarvalho
let's wait for 0.20.1 that we are going to release in the next few days.
Hmm, just checked on my computer, and it does NOT seem to have installed at all.
Can confirm the 20.1 installer DOES fix this issue for me.
Can also confirm the 0.20.1 solved the issue for me.
0.20.1 fixes this for me too.
@enricogior , I tried to install running directly from PT checking for update. It didn't work. Passed by the ".Net" step, but got stuck in 75%.
Tried to install using the .exe file. Also got stucked in 75%.
Tried to install using the .msi file, and FINALLY IT WORKED. Tested all the modules, and the only thing was that PT crashed when tried to change FZ Highlight Color. Restarted Windows, and now is fine.
Thank you for everyone for the support.
@carlosmatioli
I'm glad you manage to install it.
Installing with the .exe file is broken for me on v 0.20.1, however, installing with the msi file worked fine!
I never got any error message, but the installer never got past 75%.
The problem persists after a restart and re-running the exe installer (it gets to 75% right away but no further)
I already have dotnet core 3.1 installed
Same problem here. I had to uninstall manually because my company didn't give my user enough permissions to whatever the .exe was trying to do while uninstalling.
Then, trying to install using the .exe it got stuck at 75% every single time, even with 0.20.1. The .msi doesn't seem to have that problem.
Throwing my hat in, powertoys got uninstalled lightning fast but installing is stuck at 75% on my work machine
@enricogior, i know for 0.21 as well as 0.23 we have installer fixes, I feel like we handled this.
Did anyone experience this issue for 0.21/0.22? We didn't get any additional reports of this so we may have fixed this.

I've tried installing 0.21 and 0.22, but both installs got stuck trying to setup dotnet. No process in Task Manager called dotnet either.
Windows 10 Home, Ver. 2004
@sebasll are you using the EXE? https://github.com/microsoft/PowerToys/releases/download/v0.21.1/PowerToysSetup-0.21.1-x64.exe

It took ~30 minutes from 50% to 99%. Now it stuck.
