Windows build number: 10.0.18362.295
PowerToys version: 0.11.0
PowerToy module for which you are reporting the bug (if applicable): FancyZones
My main language is Dutch with US (International) keyboard layout and as second language English (United States) with US keyboard. With none of the language setting Win + ~ is working.
When using US (International) keyboard ~ is a dead key so I think that would not work. But with US keyboard it should work.
FancyZone editor is not launched.
Great bug! We will investigate.
I think in other languages its another key, on my keyboard ist win + !, i have a swiss german layout.
On german keyboard Win + ö works.
I tried all other keys. None showed the editor.
UK keyboard is WIN + @
in finnish keyboard win+~ will open emoji keyboard and i have win+§ (first of number 1 key) assicated to open dropdown cmd (like terminal on linux desktops), so this needed to be change. why just not open it from systray icon? we dont need shortcut to it.
In Japanese keybord (Surface Laptop Gen1) win + @ is working. ~ needs shift + ^.
On a Norwegian keyboard it is Win + ø .
On a Belgian keyboard it's Win + ù.
On Swedish keyboard it's Win + Ä
Is there a reason Microsoft seems to be against configurable hotkeys?
Added tilde
to the title to make it easier to find the issue in order to avoid duplicates.
For Italian keyboard is Win + ò
Portuguese (Portugal): WIN + ç
On Danish keyboard it's Win + æ
On UK English keyboard it is Win+@. Suggest EITHER have it configurable (as don't want to have to use Shift Key to get at the ~ on a UK keyboard) OR have the text respect the actual key used.
We've discussed this and are going to be adding this to settings so that the user can enter any character to use as the win+
That's great to hear Mike! My problem was different but another case which supports the need for this feature. I had a "quake style" drop down terminal emulator set up with Win+Tilde to toggle visibility of it. A setting to change the hotkey for FancyZones will greatly welcomed.
I think in other languages its another key, on my keyboard ist win + !, i have a swiss german layout.
For me that just opens a sort of overlay. No zone editing possible...
On French azerty it is win+ù
On Danish/scandinavian keyboard its the æ/ö/ø button (to the right of L).
Spanish-LatinAmerican: Win+Ñ
On Swedish keyboard it's Win + Ä
It's Ö for me
For Italian keyboard is Win + ò
The default key is "Win + ò" but it's not detected at all
If you try to set it manually to "Win + ò" it's like no key is pressed
If you try to set another shortcut like "Ctrl + Shift + ò" it's correctly detected and written as "Ctrl + Shift + (Key 192)" so maybe the problem is the combination with the windows key
