When you remove a recent file using the Discard button in the "Open Recent File" dialogue, the item looks like it is gone but reappears on the list when you relaunch the program.
Steps to Reproduce:
Settings -> Remember -> Remember Recent Files is enabled (it should be by default)File -> Open, drag and drop...)File -> Recent History...Discard (the item disappears from the list)CancelFile -> Recent History... (the discarded item is still missing from the list)CancelFile -> Recent History... (the discarded item is back)NB:

The problem is still present in build 2708, but is fixed in build 2709 馃帀 Thank you.
Triggered by the new file locking mechanism for accessing settings-file on concurrent multi-instances read/write on it , I did also a rework of the file-history storage in the settings file.
Feel free to test the RC prototype version "Notepad3Portable_5.20.312.1_RC3.paf.exe.7z" .
See "Notepad3 BETA-channel access issue #1129" or here Notepad3Portable_5.20.312.1_RC3.paf.exe.7z.
Note: "Notepad3Portable BETA" can be used in "2 flavors" (with or without the extension ".7z").
Notepad3 (64-bit) v5.20.312.1 RC3: Yup, still fixed 馃槃
@craigo- : Be aware of the fact, that Notepad3 (now) tries to merge the file history with other Notepad3 instances running at the same time. If you clear the history in one instance, the history of another (running in parallel) instance will find its way into the settings file, so on next launch you will still have a filled history.
