Hi, I am super excited to see that someone continued the development of my favorite text editor, Notepad2-mod!
I gave Notepad3 a quick try today and it looks fresh and promising, and I will try to use it as a replacement of Notepad2-mod which haven't been updated in the last few years.
One thing that I am missing from Notepad2-mod is the automatic registry update to replace Notepad and enable the jump lists: http://www.flos-freeware.ch/doc/notepad2-Replacement.html
It will be awesome if those are built-into Notepad3 - either in an installer or in the menus (whichever works best for you). So far I created a batch file to do that, but the convenience is not that good.
Thanks for the good work!
Update: I removed my original message because I managed to solve the problem with the jump list. My second question was about the splash screen, but since I started to use the normal (not portable) exe, everything is ok.
If you see a "Splash-Screen", you are using Notepad3Portable.exe (_PortableApps.com_) to start.
To disable the "Splash-Screen" (https://www.ghacks.net/2011/06/06/getting-rid-of-portableapps-splash-screens/) : Just copy the file Notepad3Portable\Other\Source\Notepad3Portable.ini side-by-side to Notepad3Portable\Notepad3Portable.exe and edit it, set DisableSplashScreen=true.
On the other hand, you can use the portable Notepad3.exe (from Notepad3Portable\App\Notepad3\x64 or x86) and use the "replacement trick".
Or use the Setup version (https://www.rizonesoft.com/downloads/notepad3/), and check the Notepad replacement option ...
Thanks for the quick reply! I downloaded Notepad3 from the releases tab, hence I could not find the installer. So all is good now :)
Hello @valhristov ,
As far as I'm concerned, I think you (requester) can close this issue...
