Hmm, looks like now Notepad3 saves the settings in C:\Program Files\Notepad3\Notepad3.ini instead of C:\Users\lh_mouse\AppData\Roaming\Rizonesoft\Notepad3\Notepad3.ini ? Since this directory is not writeable by normal user I can't save settings as well as window position now.

The "Notepad3.ini" which is side-by-side to Notepad3.exe (same directory) should read something like:
[Notepad3]
Notepad3.ini=%APPDATA%\Rizonesoft\Notepad3\Notepad3.ini
;<EOF>
Which redirects to correct Notepad3.ini settings within an user-writable location.
If not, this is an Installer bug 😲 ( I didn't test the installed (Setup) version 😬 )

Notepad3 RC v3.18.422.952 : as the name "RC" (Release Candidate) indicates that it is NOT a final version, but a version Test/Debug (portable) without installer issued to a wider warned public to try to find as many bugs as possible before the release of the Final version ! 😕
Personally, I do not replace the current version Notepad3 (64 bit) v3.18.311.928 with this RC version, but I extract it in a temporary folder where I have full access.
For my convenience, from this folder, I create a Notepad3.exe shortcut on my desktop.

@lhmouse is right - a lot of users are not working with an Administrator account (which is good practice 👍). After installing Notepad3 (using an elevated Setup) the user-readable side-by-side Notepad3.ini should refer to the full-blown Notepad3.ini, which should be user-writable, as discribed above.

The RC package provided by @rizonesoft has a Notepad3.ini beside Notepad.exe. I unzipped it to overwrite my previous installation and didn't notice that it had been overwritten. :laughing: better had this documented.
