create new file should same like open new windows, so not replace opened file.
so when i launch Ctrl+N , its should create new file in new windows, without replace opened file.
and
can installer version add context menu open with notepad3 for unknown file format.
There are 3 operations:
Ctrl+N): Replace current text with a new (untitled) empty text.Alt+N): Current file (as persisted) is loaded in a new instance of NP3.Alt+0): Open a new (empty, untitled) instance of NP3.If there is no very serious reason to change a long lasting Accelerator-Key, we should not change them!
I think by requesting:
create new file should same like open new windows, so not replace opened file
you like to perform the last operation (Alt+0).
I am going to add new Accelerator Key (Alt+NK0) doing the same operation.
@rizonesoft : second request is on your side  :
can installer version add context menu open with notepad3 for unknown file format
@RaiKoHoff @phonphen I'll work on a solution.
Regarding the second request, isn’t this more a task for the operating system? Windows does a fine job of allowing you to open a file type with pretty much anything you like, and remember your choice. I use the “Open with” context-sensitive menu for these sorts of tasks all the time, and Notepad3 has an entry in there.
Other options:
@craigo- @RaiKoHoff I've been working on a solution, but after a few hours researching Open Width options in Windows I came to the conclusion that it is not that simple. Adding an Open Width option to an unknown file type is not technically posible. However; I was looking into some other options. The send to menu entry was one that came up a lot. Would you guys like the Notepad3 installer create a send to menu entry?
A tickbox to that effect would be rather cool; I’d use it. Suggestions for default state? I’d suggest it be on.
Something also for the uninstaller to check for and remove...
@craigo- I'll include it in the next release.
@rizonesoft: looks like the "Send To" feature didn't make it into release 3.18.222.905..?
@craigo- Sorry about that. I will include it into the installer now and rebuild that. There are no version change and I can silently replace the installer. 😉
@rizonesoft, sorry... Am I right in thinking that this is also not in release build 3.18.223.908, downloaded directly from rizonesoft.com?
A further question... Why is the setup file now distributed within a zip file? The filesize difference of 39KB seems hardly worth it...

Hi @craigo-, hereunder the answer of Derick on the same question 3 days ago: 👍
I found that zipping the exe solves the SmartScreen issues and this will be the new normal way for all software on Rizonesoft.com. I still need to create a post about it. My workload is just intense these days, but hopefully I will get around to it soon. 😉
Hmmm... @rizonesoft, I still get the Windows Defender SmartScreen warning when opening the setup file from Notepad3_3.18.223.908_Setup.zip:
It doesn't matter whether I open the contents of the zip file using the built-in Windows 10 zip handler or a third-party compression tool.
@craigo- That is true, but @hpwamr and me had a situation where clicking on the download link blocks the website in SmartScreen whe nusing Edge. Putting the exe in a zip file solved this.
@craigo- It's true, when I was trying to open the site : "https:/ /www.rizonesoft.com/downloads/", I receive this MSG (see picture).
It's was done when Derick put the "installer.exe" in a zip file !

@phonphen : Please test release version 3.18.223.908 for 1st reported issue and close this issue if solved.
Accelerator-Key change in upcoming release:
"File -> Launch -> Empty Window" (Shift+Alt+N): Open a new (empty, untitled) instance of Notepad3.
@rizonesoft , @craigo- , @hpwamr : Please open a new issue (referencing this stream), for the discussion on the 2nd topic.
... closing this issue - has been answered.
