The functionality to strip trailing blanks is broken since version 386. Trailing tabs are kept and not removed any longer (which happens in Notepad2 and also earlier versions of Notepad3).
In case this is a feature, is it possible to make that an option? I'd like to get rid of unnecessary tab characters at the end of lines.
I accidentally found out that trailing whitespace stripping via ALT+W (as well as e.g. ALT+Y to merge blank lines) works in the most recent version (build 398), but only if no selection has been made before. The changes have global effect then.
I'm not sure whether this wasn't already the case before (with version 386 as well as 392), but I'd still like to have the old (pre 386) functionality back to apply such changes only to the selected lines (like so many of the other text modifications resp. conversions do, this behavior is inconsistent).
Yes, Alt+W must obey selection, like the other commands from the block submenu.
shortcut works for me, v2.0.2.432

... this bug has been introduced with the new RegExp engine (deelX),
and should have been fixed with PR #38 (a wrong internal option to deelX engine)
, since NP3 uses the plugged (SCI or deelX) RegExp engine internally too.
Indeed, that has solved the problem - the issue does not occur anymore when using version/build 432. Thanks for fixing!
