Hello,
With this new version, I lost everything in the app.
Every playlist, channel i was sub'd to, and settings in the app and I can't play any video, on YT source or Soundcloud and neither the other sources of content.
Wha' happened?
What Can I do ?
Sadly you're going to have to get used to this, in my experience. I've lost all my data a few times now, and sometimes intentionally clearing all data in Android's app settings is the only way I can get the Guru Meditations to go away.

You should really report the error instead.
Make sure to export before resetting.
Did you uninstall the previous version?
I can confirm this bug. Same thing happened to me.
The probable chain of events:
Auto backups feature would "solve" this issue.

Just export database before each version upgrade is the easiest way to backup.
@Willuscus and @vaelund: What phone do you have? (And did you uninstall NewPipe before installing the new version?)
Blackview A60Pro
No, I did not uninstall the old version.
@vaelund: That's strange then, what version of NewPipe did you previously (before updating to v0.19.8) have installed?
0.19.6, please also check my description in my first comment(this is as much as I remember, sry).
Just encountered this on 0.20.0; installed the update directly from the git repo after the app prompted me to (wasn't available on f-droid at the time).
My device's battery is aging and ran out of juice whilst using the application. On restart all playlists and subscriptions were missing - as if I had just started a fresh install.
AntennaPod has had a similar issue and implemented an autodump feature so that an emergency backup was available in these situations. Is this something that is being considered/could be implemented for NewPipe?
It's a shame to lose everything, is there any kind of warning in the app at the moment about this behaviour on update? It might be an idea to warn users about this potential behaviour if it is quite common, at least until a more stable update pattern is established.
At least make sure you export database once in a while in case problems like this occur. There is no autodump feature, but there is a PR open for Auto backup of the app.
Yeah, I've learned that lesson now, lol. I guess I was suggesting at least a warning for the uninformed; if there was one I missed it.
Either way, in spite of this I really am enjoying this app. If I find some spare time I hope to dedicate some of it to squashing some bugs. I'll take a look for that pull request!
