Introducing a new auto-adjusting video resolution option besides having to choose fixed resolutions for a variable internet speed, be it over a mobile data or WiFi, will provide a more uninterrupted viewing experience.
I can't say this is a problem but not having the ability to switch over to a variable data speed is crucial right now as many times users choose to use unreliable networks. Right now we can lower resolution to a certain limit which remains constant even when the data speed becomes more fast and less in terms of fluctuations.

This feature request is really geared toward a really large amount users having not very reliable access to internet. You can think about the demographic necessity for this. Not only users will be able to save on their data by eliminating advertisements but also will enjoy a seamless watching experience.
