I just install latest New Pipe 19.2 on my Android 10 Huawei Mate 20 lite and i can't download anything everything stuck s at 0B.
Why that happens :)
Does it work when using SAF?
What is SAF :)?
@goxr3plus: New way for Android apps to access storage. You could enable it in NewPipe's settings under "Download". Don't forget to change the download folders, else NewPipe won't actually use SAF.
I just checked and it was enabled, actually what happens is some videos it downloads and some it sticks at 0B.
@goxr3plus: So does the download folder it shows in the settings start with content://? If not, you aren't actually using SAF and you should try setting the download folder again. If it still doesn't work with SAF, could you link a video that works and a video that doesn't work? Also mention the format and resolution you try to download.
Yes give me a second :)
I am downloading this okay as ( m4a 128kbps) :

Trying to do the same with the following :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ILUvJnhPxs
and nothing happens, i go to download folder i find the first one downloaded and the other just a file 0Bytes
Hi , i downloaded the files , they are reflecting in mine. Can you give more details about the issue. Is it happening with these files or its happening for some particular scenario?
So guys I found a workaround and it's strange.
Every time i open the app i have go to settings - > download - > use saf is always enabled, lets say now i want to download a video.
From there i press Video Download Folder, and it has the default from new pipe pointing on the memory card.
On the bottom of the screen there is a blue button, ALLOW access to NEW PIPE, i press it once then i go and download any video i want.
Then let's say i close the app, and reopen it i have to do that steps again or video doesn't download.
It's like it doesn't remember i have given access the previous time.
Do you know what might cause this.
I am from mobile and can't send pictures i am using fastHub and it has a problem uploading pictures. The Github mobile app also doesn't have the functionality to upload pictures. Omfg i have to describe with text sry guys.
This seems like an issue with Android 10 lifetime-only permissions
Can i fix it somehow on my phone or it requires java code from your side
:)?
Maybe you can grant permission forever through the system app settings dashboard, but I have never used Android 10. Anyway, this is a bug with "java code", even if you manage to solve it via settings ;-)
Got you :) I hope a next update will fix it if possible.
@goxr3plus your reply has personal info in it by the way. May want to edit it out?
Oups i deleted them :)
@goxr3plus I removed the original version of the comment from that comment's history.
@Stypox: I doubt that. I just got Android 10, and current NewPipe works 100% fine for me.
@wb9688 Will SAF PR fix this?
@opusforlife2: It shouldn't change anything here, but I guess you could try it out
@goxr3plus Give it a go, then.
Closing until @goxr3plus confirms this is not fixed by the SAF PR.
Guys it's okay it was not working for my old phone with Android 10 but the version 0.20.0 fixed the problem. By the way now i use a samswng phone.聽
Thanks for confirming!
