@Clancey , Thanks for reaching out. Can you give us more details ? When you stopped and tried again did it work ? Also, your logs may provide us with helpful information. You can access them via the Live Share: Export Logs command from the command palette (ctrl + shift + p) and attach them to this issue.

Just to add to this - I'm getting the same issues.

I've had this work before on a previous mac, but I tried installing it today and joining a live session and it asked me to sign in.

I clicked sign in, and it opened a browser (I tried signing in with both Github and a Microsoft Account). The browser sign in worked correctly, but when I returned to VSCode to the session, it just continued to "load" the session, and asked me to sign in again.

It feels like some sort of auth loop, whereby you authorise access via "insert federated authentication provider here", sign in works at the browser level but then fails when communicating back with VS code.

@aaronjpitty Thank you for adding your logs. Did you used Google Chrome to signing in ?

@Clancey @aaronjpitty what browser do you use to sign in?

Chrome, I exported the logs, but they are for when it worked, not for when it didn't.

Also chrome yeah.

@aaronjpitty , @Clancey , Would you try with another browser? That will unblock you. Due to the latest Chrome changes , you can't sign into Live Share by using Chrome. We have a fix ready for that. Fix will be released early next week.

I tried in safari, I get the same issue, stuck at Starting collaboration session: External Sign In Starting

I have the same problem. I tried it with chrome and the current Firefox Developer Edition.

With Chrome my login gets reject and I can only join as guest (which works). With Firefox I can sign in, but my peer does not get to accept my request to join. For me it's just an infinite loading.
Starting a session myself does not work either, as it requires me to login in again, and then beeing in the infinite state of "Sign in to proceed".

I always sign in with Github and have to authorize the application again everytime.

@beckerei, what OS are you using?
Also, @beckerei, @TheFrogDaddy, @Clancey, if you run into this issue again, could you upload your logs here so I can take a look at them?

Hello @Moniarchy I tried again recently with Firefox (Standard / latest Build) and it didn't work. Logs attached

I'm using macOS Catalina (10.15).
Attached logs are from my attempt using chrome (77.0.3865.120), additionally I replaced my user with LOCALUSER

I'm still running a mac with Mojave on it, and it works there. Chrome versions are equal plugins and settings as well.

Facing the same isssue on macOS Catalina(FYI: it used to work on Catalina, then stopped working for no reason).

I tried to sign-in with Safari, Chrome & Firefox via Github, the sign-in works on the browser, but not in VS Code, it shows Starting collaboration session: Sign in to proceed.

@Moniarchy any updates?

I could sign in using this https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/liveshare/use/vscode#sign-in-using-a-user-code
