Lila: Opponent moves not arriving in browser when opponent has connection issues

My opponent had a weird self-reported connection issue, but somehow this affected the game from my side.

On my side, I saw him timing out during the last seconds of his game. I had no connection issues, I am on a wired connection and was listening to a live broadcast at the time. However, the game would not "end" and declare me won. After a bit, lichess gave me the message "Your opponent left the game. You can claim victory in 20 seconds." while he was timed out at 00:00 already. I made a screenshot of that, see below.

I then refreshed the page, to see that he had made a move early on, which did not arrive in my browser for apparently more than a minute. This despite lichess still sending the message that my opponent had left the game to my browser, which he presumably did after seeing me time out.

I don't suspect dishonesty by my opponent. Could connection issues on his side cause his moves to not arrive on my side, while arriving at the lichess server?

As a suggestion: you might want to consider a banner for 30 minutes after servers reboot saying: "At 12:34 the server restarted. The last time this happened was x days ago. We apologise for wrongfully ended games. Please consider donating to keep our servers running."

That makes it clear to everyone what happened, why it happened, how often it happens and what they could do to make it happen less often. And that the developers are aware and apologetic.
