Lila: Not enough green or other color boards

Please consider adding more green boards.
Right now there are:
Blue 4
Brown/Wood 5
Grey 4
Green 2
Purple 1
Yellow 1

Or it would be more simple for the common user to have something like
1.Choose colors ( lichess palette)
2.Choose texture ( wood, marble,plastic,diamond,newspaper, etc. ) + maybe a layer transparency slider

or
add your own board (through a link or upload a png file- with a maximum nr. of images to upload )

hey @sadsnake1 if you are taking requests https://worldchess.com/arena board would be good to have. Their pieces are pretty too. Though we have enough brown-ish themes, the sandlewood one in pychess (dark, light) is nice.

Only 3 of the current boards (the basic blue, brown and green ones) have the coordinates color the same as the color of the other square (coordinates in dark color in the light square and in light color in the dark square). All the other boards have the coordinates all white. Is it possible to change this?

OK yes let's not forget that H1 is a light square.

That's a lot of boards. We can't just propose tons of boards to the end user, for two reasons:

• overchoice
• a board added can never be removed, so there's no going back

I keep posting boards, because maybe your team will choose some of them. I know that there can't be too many of them, but a little bit of color variation won't do bad, instead it would add something unique to lichess.

hey @sadsnake1 I suggest you put all the properly rotated boards in a drive/dropbox folder so that so we can use any of them using live css editor like I'm using

That way average lichess users don't have to be burdened with overchoice while we don't have to lose any of these beautiful boards!

I saw that another yellowish/greenish board was uploaded , that resembles one of the boards I made, but without that shadow effect.

I think you should let one of those go, because they are too similar in color.

Another point is that I think some boards here are perfect for lichess, because they add some unique colors and vibe. I will post below some that I think it will make perfect boards for your website and that will make me happy to play on them. Finally, it is your decision if you will add them or not, but I really feel that these boards will add true value to the players.

And I think it'd look better if it were updated to just have the diagonal lines going in one direction like this orangish board, rather than the two lines crossing in both directions making the X shape.

I wanted to make a separate effect for each board. For that board I tried to create a ruby/diamond effect. But, if the lichess team approves I first must change the orangish board and then to change the ruby board.

I'm posting here some problems that I consider to be important. Maybe I am mistaking, but if I am please ignore me. Anyhow, I must adress them, because I think is for the best interest of the players.

1. Some boards have colors that are too bright/eye straining. Funny enough some were made by me ( orangish, Ruby and the Green one)
   Also, if anyone can confirm, I added maybe too much shadows and glows to some boards. This problem is also ocurring in other boards where the pattern or the effect are to proeminent and are too distracting.

An other point is that I posted some boards that I think will be popular, will these be added or are under some kind of review? I am asking this because I want to know if my vision of a beautiful board is in line with the chess players and also if I should create other boards or should I stop completely.

The last point is that I wanted to offer, in my opinion, better alternatives to the icons of the gamemodes ( blitz, bullet, etc.) and I dont know if I should start designing them or this is a completely closed subject.

Anyhow, I am here to try to help or contribute to this platform, because I like lichess, I do not play very often chess, but I must say that I enjoy seeing and contributing to a near perfect site like lichess and maybe help making it better, more clear and concise.

Also, and I must say this here is, that I would really want to see a sort of time tactics (puzzle Rush) and a better database on lichess, for which I can help, I can donate work or money or I can talk to programers to help build on this platform, if the lichess team is interested and that what I say complies with their vision.

I'm very busy with lichess and it's hard for me to prioritize the many tasks I'm trying to do at once.

I agree that boards are too bright. We can keep talking boards but let's not forget about overchoice, and the fact that we can't remove or drastically change boards that people are already using.

We can talk about changing the bullet icon. If you wish to submit icon designs, please open a new issue.

I don't have time for speed puzzles or database changes at the moment.

• reduce the effects and eye strain on the green board and the ruby board
• I propose to change the orange board with the indigo one , orange is too strong and I can't find a good composition to not be eye straining.
