I know this was removed in https://github.com/elastic/kibana/pull/8497, but I can't find another issue requesting it to be re-added so I thought I'd raise this one.
This way we can also track demand from the community :)

This feature is perfect for internal advocacy of the Kibana and ES. It's great for quick demonstrations of the simplicity and efficacy of the solution.
Every other alternative to perform this simple "importing" task takes much longer!

We really need CSV import for much more smaller tasks. For example for demo and merging certain info into more complex index.

I made a kibana plugin which allow you to import your csv and excel files , feel free to try it and leave some feed back.
