Jetpack: Calypsoify shows a jQuery function deprecation warning on posts page

Created on 30 Aug 2020  路  6Comments  路  Source: Automattic/jetpack

Steps to reproduce

  • Start with a WordPress.com website with a plugin, or third-party theme installed. OR, a WordPress.org site with Jetpack installed. (Ensure that you are using WordPress 5.5)
  • Install Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin.
  • Ensure that Calypsoify module is enabled on Jetpack. (On my tests, it was enabled on both sites by default. I am also not see that on this page: https://domain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=jetpack_modules)
  • Visit https://domain.com/wp-admin/edit.php?calypsoify=1

What I expected

There is no jQuery function deprecation warning.

What happened instead

We see a warning.

Notes

I am not sure if this is a concern that we want to address right now, but I guess we would like to update this in the future?

@jeherve @kraftbj Could either of you confirm if this is report is fine to be on Calypso? Or, would it be better to move to Jetpack repository?

Calypsoify should all go to the Jetpack repo. It isn't Calypso, just us trying to make wp-admin look like it. I'm on mobile, can you move it over?

@kraftbj Thanks for confirming, I have moved it over now!

It already seems to be discussed here https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/16409#issuecomment-674853559. May as well close the issue that I created, but will leave that decision to Jetpack maintainers.

Closing in favor of #16409.
