Imgbrd-grabber: Compilation Unsuccessful, Ubuntu Desktop 18.04 LTS

After you kindly answered my question on this thread, I finally had a chance to try looking at the compilation errors closely tonight. I'm trying to decipher what this all means. Most of the output lines all have to do with localization(?)

I apologize for the verbose dump, but since I'm not sure what I'm looking for, I figured I should just show it all. I have a feeling the issue is at the very end/bottom of the build attempt:

It seems that you are missing the npm binary, which is part of NodeJS and required to build the project. It's actually explained in the docs but it would seem that I didn't update the build.sh file to include it.

I guess since most people already have NodeJS installed, this error haven't popped up until now.

Interesting. I already do have NodeJS installed.

nodejs is already the newest version (8.10.0~dfsg-2ubuntu0.4).

I have it working! And I think I discovered what the problem was. It was an outdated version of Node that was causing the problem.

I noticed my "nodejs" was showing version number of 8.x but the official linux 64bit binary shows the current version is 10.x. A little further look into this, and I discovered there's an apt package called "node.js" as well.

So there's nodejs and node.js .... Huh.

So, I installed node.js ... The build still failed.

So, then I followed my nose and discovered this page which explains about a Debian/Ubuntu distro of Node. I followed the instructions and it seems to be building just fine at the moment.

So! I think this came down to Ubuntu 18.04 being shipped with an outdated version of nodejs (8.x). I'm now upgraded to 12.x

Incidentally I also removed node.js before upgrading nodejs since it seemed not to be needed. Not even sure what that was/is.

Never heard of the node.js package before, and from the Node.js docs, it doesn't seem official, or if it is must be very old:
