Handbrake: Fusion Drive "Almost Full" Failure

Created on 21 May 2017  路  7Comments  路  Source: HandBrake/HandBrake

Please describe the problem or feature request in detail:

Handbrake-Mac throws an error if it is on a device with a fusion drive, and the solid state drive is almost full.

I currently have a 1.12TB fusion drive on an iMac, containing 128GB solid state fused with a 1TB spinning hard drive. The spinning hard drive has practically nothing on it, and the solid state is almost full and handbrake throws an error that the disk is full, despite the fact it actually has 1TB of storage space to fill.

What are the steps to reproduce this problem:

  1. Run Handbrake on a Mac with a fusion drive where the solid state is almost full.
  2. Handbrake will fail to run and will throw an error.

What version of HandBrake you are running:

Version 1.0.7 (2017040900)

What operating system and version and you running (e.g. OSX 10.11, Windows 7, Ubuntu 14):

macOS 10.12.5 (16F73)

Was there any error message or error dialog, if so please detail or provide screenshots:

"Your destination disk is almost full.\nYou need to make more space available on your destination disk."

Issue resolved. I found a workaround and I've used it successfully two times since I raised the issue. If I remove the item(s) in the queue before starting to config and process the next DVD then everything works as desired ... no more 'disk is almost full' message.

And my statement that 1GB was free was wrong, I meant 1TB. Duh.

Thanks! Great product.

Thanks, we'll take a look.

Hopefully fixed in 4f23ed561867bc65707121a786679a441705269f , but I can't test it.

Closing. If the problem persists, please feel free to respond and we can reopen the issue.

The problem persists. I get the error on my second use of handbrake. I installed handbrake an hour ago. Handbrake won't write to the internal drive or to the external 4TB drive. Both have 1GB free. The good news is that Handbrake's video quality is much better than the Mac product I've been using.

Are you using the nightly build? The default warning limit is 2 GB, but this is configurable.

Please try a nightly.
