hi,
i just installed L4M (lineageos for microg). self-checks everything green. added a google account; i got the standard security alert via email. installed the gmail app, gave it all permissions. when i open it, it doesn't see the account configured on the device. if i use it to add a new account, the add works, but then the gmail app continues to not see any account.
i got my GSF ID and added an exception for it on goog. but nothing changed.
too much is happening lately with play certification and i couldn't really keep up.
is this the dreaded #510 ?
also, i installed yalp store, and it cannot log in with the bundled credentials. i did not want to try me real credentials. yalp store on my other device, which is gapps-enabled and where it used to work fine, now says "no network connection".
any pointers? thanks!
The problem of yalp store is unrelated, see here: https://github.com/yeriomin/YalpStore/issues/447
thanks! ok, i got fdroid's version, i need to wait for the fix. (waiting for fdroid builds gets me on my nerves :) .)
and the gmail issue?
what i want to know is: does gmail fails for everyone these days? or only for me?
Is it time to create a chat channel at Matrix.org or gitter or IRC?

(@ale5000-git, f-droid updated yalp store and now it works. gmail issue, i'm still lost about.)
That would be good to have irc channel. It would clean up a bit the issues at github from unexperienced users.
So vote up for IRC +1

You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.

Though beware that IRC is very outdated hence on 3rd place after Gitter and
Matrix.
Matrix would allow to bridge with an eventual IRC channel for people that prefer that.
thank you guys for your work here! i really mean it.
now could you please not hijack this thread and stay on topic? now i might need to close this issue down and open a new one to get a response to my Q.
(btw i've used microg before years ago and read through all the docs more than once, and i feel this question is warranted here. i would not have used any chat to post it.)
@Lanchon
Gmail is still working for me but I logged in the account before the "certification thing" so I'm not sure.
Have you tried to manually grant contact permission to Gmail?
Have you tried an old version of Gmail?
hola ale,
thx! as i stated in OP all gmail apk permissions are granted. i havent tried an older app. i dont really have time to investigate or randomly poke at stuff at this time unfortunately. this time around if i cant get stuff to work on a recipe ill have to go gapps again and leave microg for next phone change... :(
@Lanchon does the solution from https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/issues/505#issuecomment-386449145 help you with the gmail issue?
hey @Catfriend1,
thx! weil i had read that thread, but the symptoms are very different. i can successfully add accounts (i have 2 now). the login step does not hang. furthermore, mine is a completely clean install: deleting the account db files probably will just put me back exactly where i started. this looks like a completely different issue. thank you!
Currently I don't have time to test a clean flash but I will do some tests next week.
PS: Did you tried to install microG using my installer?
I have put a lot of code to automatically fix problems, in most cases it does work.
I have created the installer because there are a number of things that can cause problems that checking them at hand everytime I flash a new ROM would be annoying.
i didnt. but im using microg's lineage build and i expect it should work or to know whats wrong. plus i want to keep as L4M-stock as possible, so that updates just work and problems i find down the line are shared by others.
It's broken on playstore for me as well. It's constantly showing the "An app on your device is trying to sign into a Google account" prompt, even if I'm signed in. Pressing "sign in" causes a login prompt to show up, which fails because the account already exists on the device.
@Catfriend1 doesn't resolve the issue for me.
For some people the access problem is fixed by enabling access to less secure apps here.
i've been accessing email via imap for years now, so this is already set in my accounts:
Allow less secure apps: ON
thx!
I can confirm playstore showing constantly the ""An app on your device is trying to sign into a Google account" prompt. Having access to less secure apps "ON" does not help.
@ale5000-git not an option for me because I have 2fa enabled. also, the I can see the phone as signed in recently (I had to log in after deleting the android accounts database), so I'm pretty sure it's not a sign-in issue.
Maybe resetting the account files on the phone will help, I will add an option in my tool to do it soon.
resetting the account files
you mean this: https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/issues/548#issuecomment-391504070 ?
I tried that too
Yes, I haven't yet tried but maybe it help someone.
im running microg 0.2.4.111-.....b48. is this what i should be running?
i continue to have this issue and unfortunately it looks like ill be back to gapps until i swap phones again next year. i can't really do the migration unless i have a new phone to work with; i can't afford to be disconnected for an unknown length of time while doing the work.
I too have the issue with play not recognizing the login.
we'd better have all the "me too"-s in a chat :(
@nailyk , adding +1 to the top post would indicate your "too" allright
I am also having issues now after updating microG core to some unofficial version. Somehow my Google account got lost (while others remained) and I can't re-add it but with different error:
I can succeed each step (mail address, password, policy) but at the end it says there is a problem connecting to Google servers. Also with firewall off it does not work.
Read about deleting some account files but I guess that does delete all accounts? As my problem seems different I'm not sure if I should try this while there is risk of need to re-add all other accounts, too.
deleting account files doesnt work anyway. nothing works.
@ildar @AreYouLoco we have an official IRC channel, even though it's not used very much (clearly because not many know about it). It is, perhaps unsurprisingly, #microg on freenode.
Since it was mentioned that Matrix may feel more modern, I've now bridged the channel at #microg:outcasts.win as a Matrix room.
The problem should be fixed in the new version of microG GmsCore released yesterday, please try it and report back.
