Gitmoji: Simplified subset language for easier adoption.

Hello team :sunglasses:!

I started using a subset of Gitmoji. Got to tell you the number of Gitmoji there are is intimidating and at first I didn't want to use it. There is also a mental load in memorising them all.

I'm not suggesting a drastic change, just re-arranging the initial set of Gitmoji on the homepage, and add a visual cue that shows it's a simplified subset, such as a light grey bg.

I actually find the following subset makes heaps of sense:

I think it's a great suggestion with considerable less work to do comparing to others suggestion that tackled the same "Getting started" problem, I support this :D

That said, I personally wouldn't want to add :construction: to my subset, cuz I don't like using it in practice, like, what is a work in progress commit? is a commit that is not complete, so it's not a commit. I generally use those in a separate topic branch that I will later squash merge in my feature branch, but this is a "advanced" use of git .

Anyway, my point here is: if early adopters are starting with this subset I wouldn't want to encorage them to use it.

But the disscussion on which emoji to add to the getting started section comes after we decide if we wanna or not include this in the project :D lets wait for more opinions

Maybe we can have a "Getting started" with the most used gitmojjis ?

Here is a quick mockup:

You'll note in the subset I linked, that all the tasks listed on the gitmoji page can be substituted with the subset, so ideally the selection should be as versatile.

Install/Upgrade/Improve tasks, esp existing stuff, all fall under ⚡
New things that are added to the repo fall under ✨
Anything testing related under ✅
etc.

Hello!

I really like the idea that everyone makes a subset for his own personal usage, a few different companies in fact are expanding the idea behind Gitmoji to an own version of emojis for using them inside of the company.

I think that a subset is something really opinionated, it depends a lot on your context. This makes finding a suitable and relevant general subset hard.

Probably, you'll be recommending a whole different subset to someone that is a web developer compared to someone who's working on data/machine learning.

That's my two cents about this idea and why I don't think we should integrate it on the website

Thanks for opening the issue @christoshrousis ❤️
