Dash-to-dock: Customize opacity: Adaptive and Dynamic?

What is the expected behaviour of adaptive and dynamic opacity under "Customize opacity"? Can't see any documentation or help text about these two features.

Hi Christer,
the difference between the two (assuming you are on 3.26 or more) is the following:

  • Dynamic: the dock transparency is set to either a transparent and an opaque state (customizable by the user) depending on the distance of the windows from the dock: the dock becomes opaque when windows are close or overlaping with the dock.
  • Adaptive: as dynamic, but the opacity levels are kept in sync with the top panel (In GNOME Shell 3.24 and before dynamic and adaptive are the same).

I agree the documentation is a bit lacking (It took me as well a while to find out what those options means not being using them), and we should ideally provide some more info to the user.

@micheleg the current behavior of dynamic doesn't match your description. The dock seems to show three levels of transparency: maximum transparency (min-alpha?) in the activities overview, minimum transparency when a windows is touching the dash (max-alpha?) and an intermediate level of transparency otherwise. I don't know whether this is intended or a bug, but it certainly is a weird behavior. I've reported that in https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/issues/962.
