Cwa-wishlist: Offer app officially to other countries?

Created on 28 Jun 2020  ·  3Comments  ·  Source: corona-warn-app/cwa-wishlist

Hello!
Naive question. Are there any talks with foreign health authorities about offering the app as their official solution? Like RKI does in Germany.

The big task would be likely uploading results of positives tests that will need additional work from local developers and authorities as well. That could help countries will less population like Luxembourg or Namibia. Others like the US seem to have several apps but not an official from the CDC. Maybe France also decides to merge with ours?

Benefits

  • Increased coverage
  • Fewer solutions required for compatibility
  • Foreign developers can support you

Drawbacks

  • Higher load on servers
  • Need to guide foreign developers with test result upload
  • Usual data protection issues

I don't claim that the RKI app is better or should replace others. I just think we can unite efforts.
Thanks for your work

The CWA FAQ entry lists the countries which are already connected or planned to be connected to Germany starting with the release of CWA version 1.5 on October 19, 2020.
