Clearly by the existence of this screenshot you see the value of having distinct background images for different shells, however as far as I can find the only way to do this right now is by setting the background image in the predefined tasks which has some limitations (wouldn't be applied to a prompt created using the start hook, etc).
Background Image Override should be added as an option in Application Distinct Settings right next to Color Palette Override
Background is set on per-console basis. I don't like the idea of "dynamic" background.
Just use -new_console to setup your task.

i think the background image should be an appDistinct setting like the colorscheme - i am missing to customize the background image for each tab individually (like you can do with color palettes). The reason i want to style each tab separately is to have an image with some client logo and server type in for preconfigred ssh connections. For visibility effects i like to adjust the images belonging to the client/system. So i prepared different background images. But the problem is that i may set this only for the whole ConEmu instance. I am looking forward to use the switch -SetOption("bGimage", "
