Created on 23 Apr 2018  Â·  5Comments  Â·  Source: Maximus5/ConEmu

Versions

ConEmu build: 180422 preview x64
OS version: Windows 10 x64 v. 1803
Used shell version : bash

Problem description

VIM arrow keys do not work.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Use VIM.
  2. Try to move with arrow keys

Actual results

Error noise.

Expected results

Cursor moves.

Notes

Arrow keys work just fine outside of vim and work fine in VIM if I run bash not in ConEmu.

Actually, after using Add/refresh default tasks…, the default bash task works fine (with arrows in vim).

Something must have changed with the Windows build though, I never had to do this before

TLDR; Use default bash task

@Maximus5 Please reopen and look into this, this is a new issue for Windows build 1803. This is a problem with the default bash task that you point out. It worked fine before 1803, not any more.

  1. ConEmu doesn't change tasks without explicit request. This is by design.
  2. WSL can't work properly without connector. This is due Microsoft WinAPI limitations.

I've just found out that Ctrl+ works as expected, which made me find that Alt+ works just as a key. When I'm using a laptop where Fn+RightArrow acts as End, I can now use Fn+Alt+RightArrow, for example. A bit of a hustle, but works as at least some solution for me
